Kate Whitfield’s work creates a new way of looking at everyday things. She collects data as a starting point for each piece and displays it in a way that is more aesthetic and easier to interpret. Print is often used in Whitfield’s work but an almost constant material used through out is paper.

Whitfield’s work looks clean and simple, but always addresses an underlying concept. She often uses data through her work and creates ways in which it can be better understood by a wider audience through making it more visually appealing. An example of this is in her body language series where she uses data collected of hand movements to portray a different way of seeing a conversation.

"data is just a way of achieving greater awareness of complex matters in a modern world."
